Where can I go in a Drifters campervan?

You can drive wherever you like, as long as it's not off-road. We have no limits on KMs during your hire. Please double-check entry to any remote campsites, they need to be 2WD accessible.

How do I book?

Bookings can be made in three simple steps:

1. Head to Camplify and sign up for an account.
Use your email address or Facebook login to create an account. We use Camplify to ensure a safe and secure transaction that includes insurance and roadside assistance.

2. Find our vans, Hendrix and Huey.

3. Make a booking request.
Input your dates and make a booking request. We will accept the booking and 50% deposit is due within 48 hours, the rest 30 days before your trip.

4. Get ready for your trip!
We'll contact you the week before to confirm pickup details with you. Our pickup location is Coolum Beach, QLD.

Is insurance included and is there a security bond?

Yes, all bookings are made through Camplify and standard insurance is included at no extra cost, with the option to upgrade it. The insurance options are:

Standard insurance: Included
Hirer liability is $2000. 48 hours before your booking a deposit of $1000 will be held against your credit card. No money is actually deducted, it is held as like a bond as if your were booking into a hotel.

Silver insurance: $15 per day
Hirer liability is reduced to $1000. 48 hours before your booking a deposit of $250 will be held against your credit card.

Gold insurance: $35 per day
Hirer liability is reduced to $250. There is no deposit held against your card for this option.

Where a security bond is required, it is held against your credit card at the time of your trip but no charges are made unless an accident or damage occurs. The bond is in place to cover things like:

– Repairing any damage that occurs during the hire; to the vehicle or the contents
– Cost of insurance excess if you are at fault
– Cost of refuelling the van if it isn't returned with a full tank
– Replacing lost items during the hire
– Cleaning costs if the van is not returned in an acceptable state

What happens if I break down, is roadside assistance included?

Yes, 24-hour nationwide roadside assistance with NRMA is included at no extra cost. If you break down, lock your keys in the vehicle or something else unexpected happens, call 1300 416 133 and you'll be assisted immediately.

Is bedding included?

Yes! The vans come with a feather and down duvet and two pillows. The quilt set is hotel quality 100% cotton so you have everything you need for a comfy night's sleep wherever you are. There are also bath towels and a beach blanket.

Can I drop the van off somewhere different to the pick up?

No, sorry. At this time we don't have the capacity for one-way trips and the van must be picked up and dropped off to Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. It's about 10 minutes from Sunshine Coast Airport and a great central spot for exploring South-East Queensland.

Is there power?

Yes, the vans have a second battery which powers everything in the living space - including the fridge, internal lights and power sockets. It's independent from the main battery so you'll never run it flat and be stuck anywhere. It's self-sufficient and will recharge from the solar panel or upon driving.

Do I need a powered campsite?

No, the vans are fully self-sufficient and there is nothing to plug into a powered site. Unpowered is perfect!

Can I bring my cute little puppy?

We are very sorry but pets, big or small, are not allowed in our vans.

Do I need to pay for toll roads?

Nope. Brisbane city has a few toll roads and if you’re driving through it’s likely you’ll hit one. All good! The vans are set up to use them and the cost is inclusive in your hire.

Do I have to clean the van?

The van must be returned in the same state it was at the beginning of the hire. Kitchen items should be cleaned and rubbish removed. Charges will be taken from the bond if it is returned in an unacceptable state.

What happens if I get a ticket?

If you get a parking ticket or speeding fine, you will be liable to pay it.

Who can drive the van?

You must hold a full driver's licence and be aged 21+ to be insured to drive our vans. The vehicles have an automatic transmission and cruise control and a reversing camera/sensors which makes them easy to drive and park.

Where can I camp?

There are some beautiful camping spots available including national parks, forest retreats and beach camping. National parks can be booked online for Queensland and NSW for as little as $5 per night - just make sure they are accessible with 2WD. The WikiCamps app is also a great resource for a range of camping options ($7.99 to download). There are some great free spots - just make sure it’s legit. Pulling up anywhere and sleeping for the night is generally not OK in Australia and can land you a hefty fine. Can I bring my surfboard or SUP?

Yes, we have roof racks if you want to bring your boards along. You must supply your own straps and ensure they are correctly attached; you are responsible for any damage that may occur to your own items whilst hiring the van.

What is the minimum hire period?

The minimum hire period is three days (two nights).
