If you’re looking for something other than a beach, the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland offers an array of activities, from wonderful waterfuls to cosy tea rooms. Drive only half an hour inland, away from the ocean, and you’re presented with a rolling landscape of hills and forest. Plenty of scenic lookouts on the drive allow you to see right down to the coast and the stunning natural landscape dotted with cute little towns makes it the perfect place to spend an afternoon exploring. We’ve taken a look at popular spots in and around the two neighbouring towns of Montville and Maleny:
Grab a drink and listen to some live music at Wild Rocket, featuring a lovely garden and craft beer on tap from their own micro brewery.
Take a stroll through the rainforest to reach Kondalilla Falls, a 90m waterfall with natural rockpools to swim in.
Head to Flame Hill Vineyard for wine tasting paired with delicious local cheeses and take in the views from the deck.
Choose from over 90 flavours of fudge plus an array of traditional sweets at Fudgyboombahs.
Enjoy afternoon tea at Poet’s Cafe with views over the rolling hills.
Stop to smell the roses at Maleny Botanic Gardens with sweeping views over the Glass House Mountains.
For an easy-access waterfall and swimming hole, head to Gardners Falls which is only a short stroll from the nearby car park.
Go beer-tasting at Brouhaha Brewery.
Discover Maleny Lane to explore world food, galleries, shops tucked into a laneway. Live music and night markets at the weekends.
